Nurses Certificate in Animal Behaviour

The Improve International NCert(AnBeh) modular training programme has been accredited by ESVPS as being a suitable education programme based on the course content and the calibre of the tutors delivering the taught course.

Candidates are required to study all areas of the course syllabus, which comprises taught and non-taught areas. Full details of the course syllabus will be provided by Improve International on registration.

The NCert(AnBeh) is designed to teach nurses to deal competently and safely with canine and feline behavioural problems within the context of veterinary practice.  Please note that future regulation may restrict the use of term “animal behaviourist” to those who have undergone further training, but should not restrict the ability of the successful candidate for the NCert(AnBeh) to use his/her knowledge within the scope of their practice.

To achieve the NCert(AnBeh), candidates must complete and pass the following:

  • Attend the ESVPS-accredited modular training programme
  • Complete the online pre- and post-module questions
  • Submit a 2,500-word ‘Stress Audit’
  • Complete an examination comprising spot tests, multiple choice questions, and short answer questions

Candidates will also be required to complete the following additional study:

  • Further reading on the taught subjects
  • Additional study of the non-taught areas of the course syllabus
