Remit
ESVPS is a not-for-profit organisation which fulfils the following broad criteria on a pan-European basis:
Accreditation of Continuing courses
To be ESVPS accredited it is necessary to show that a particular course fulfils a number of pre-defined criteria.
Awarding General Practitioner Certificates
(GPCerts) across a range of species and subjects.
 
Aims & Objectives
The European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ESVPS) is a not-for-profit organisation and is run by the members. It was established in 2003 by a group of like-minded veterinarians with the principal objectives of providing attainable, balanced qualifications for practitioners working within practice throughout Europe. The first General Practitioners Certificates were launched in 2004, with the aim of allowing candidates to achieve a high level of knowledge and expertise in their chosen subject through a combination of didactic tuition, practical experience, and reflective learning.
Candidates who enrol on the General Practitioner Certificate examinations are required to complete a set training programme specific to the course.
The main aims of the ESVPS General Practitioners Certificate examinations are is to allow candidates working in practice to complete the training programme and achieve success in the examination without taking excessive time away from their practice and normal activities.

Management Team
This comprises a number of members who hold their positions on a rotational basis.
Acedemic Board

Members of the academic board have been selected from respected academic institutions from both the UK and Europe. The Acedemic Board has direct responsibility for the maintenance of course standards and works in accordance with current Good Learning and Teaching Practices, such as those issued by the Institute for Learning and Teaching (ILT).

Members of this group are responsible for the setting of examinations and appointment of suitable examiners.

Structure
All members of the Academic Board are Diplomates of UK, European or USA Veterinary Colleges or similarly qualified or recognised specialists who are active in clinical practice.
